Background: The Round Chair, which was serially produced in the workshops of the cabinetmaker Johannes Hansen and which for many represented the perfect wooden chair, marked Wegner's international breakthrough. Dubbed 'The Chair' in the 1950 February issue of the American magazine Interiors, it soon became the symbol of the Danish 1950s variant of post-war organic modernism known as Danish Modern or Danish Design. This near perfect example of Hans Wegner for Johannes Hansen "The Chair" fully restored from top to bottom. The wood has been fully refinished and the cane woven seat has been perfectly matched with the the original design. This chair is stamped beneath with the original stamp of Johannes Andersen (the manufacturer of the chair) as well as the logo from the maker. We include FREE SHIPPING in the listing price. Condition report: Fully restored from top to bottom. New woven cane seat to match the original has been installed. Stamped beneath with original makers stamp and the Johannes Hansen logo. 9.5/10 condition. Wow a fine example!
